Asian Elephant Facts- The dominant elephant in the herd is a female, the matriarch. - The Asian elephant has been domesticated for centuries; it is intelligent and docile when well treated. - The Asian elephant has considerably smaller ears than the African elephant, the forehead is flat and the top of the head is the highest point of the animal. - Asian elephants need 80–200 litres of water a day, and use more for bathing. - There are four subspecies of the Asian elephant: Indian Elephant, Sri Lankan Elephant, Sumatran Elephant and Borneo Elephant.
